Communicating Assessment Results with Faculty (Psychology)

In successful assessment cycles, degree programs collect and interpret evidence to inform decision-making to improve student learning. Faculty and instructors play critical roles in evaluating student work and then interpreting and discussing results, so that program-level assessment can contribute to decisions about curriculum, instruction, professional development, and assessment processes.

ATL Mini Grant Project: In the academic year 2015-16, the Department of Psychology received assessment mini grant funding in support of their project, “Dissemination of Program Assessment Outcomes to the Psychology Faculty.” This project involved hiring a student worker to assist in the compilation, analysis, and organization of assessment data into a comprehensive presentation for Psychology faculty. The project also involved the development of the assessment tool in Qualtrics to streamline future data collection.

According to Dee Posey, Clinical Associate Professor and Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Psychology and project leader, “This project has allowed the department to convert assessment data that had been maintained only in paper form to electronic versions to help with data maintenance. With the data, I was able to develop a presentation of the results that will be shared with Psychology faculty.”
