AI Tools and Prompts to Support Program Assessment Activities

Generative AI tools have the potential to support a variety of program assessment activities throughout the assessment cycle. This resource is intended to help WSU programs and faculty explore these new opportunities in the context of program-level learning outcomes assessment activities, but is not intended to be fully exhaustive. ACE is also available to collaborate with undergraduate degree programs interested in exploring the use of AI to support program assessment activities; contact us for additional information.

How to Use this Resource

When using AI to support program assessment activities it’s important to provide the AI tool with specific information about your program, your students, and your purpose. For each prompt provided below, you’ll find a description of the intent of the prompt, the output it is designed to generate, any information you’ll be asked to provide, and a document with the prompt text to copy and paste into WSU Copilot Chat.

WSU Copilot Chat Tip: The quality and performance of some capabilities in Copilot Chat may vary depending on the service capacity and may vary throughout the day (especially during peak usage periods). If you experience issues with any of the prompts below, you may want to try rerunning the prompt in a new chat or at another time of day.

Note: These prompts and tools are intended to empower and augment the work of WSU faculty and staff by generating insights or additional perspectives, they are not intended to replace human knowledge or judgement. Additionally, WSU faculty and staff are urged to follow all applicable laws, regulations, and WSU policies when entering various forms of data into AI tools (see the WSU Cloud Acceptable Use Matrix for more information). For more information about the responsible use of AI, see ACE’s Guidance on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence to Support Program-level Assessment Activities.
