WSU Liaison Council for Undergraduate Program Assessment

Liaison Council Charge

WSU’s Liaison Council for Undergraduate Program Assessment meets during the regular academic year to:

• Collaborate on the evolution of key systems and processes for undergraduate program assessment at WSU, ensuring that processes work well from the college and campus perspective (useful, scalable, and appropriate) and address rough spots as systems, processes, and tools are refined
• Share good practices in program assessment and address common challenges, giving input on support for student learning outcomes assessment in all colleges and programs (including those with professional accreditation)
• Participate in an institution-wide system for planning and managing program-level assessment (WSU reports on the Liaison Council’s activity as part of our assessment system for institutional accreditation)

Liaison Council members help build WSU’s assessment capacity and systems as they:

• Develop policies and infrastructure to recognize and support sustainable program assessment and the department chairs, school directors, and faculty who conduct assessment and use results for program improvement, communicating the value of program assessment
• Discuss common concerns and successes, and help council members, their colleges, programs, and campuses solve problems they encounter in student learning outcomes assessment, use of results, and reporting
• Contribute to professional development of academic leadership involved in program assessment, situating WSU’s approach and concerns in national discourse on assessment and in NWCCU’s accreditation standards
